Early Symptoms Of Parvo

Parvovirus in canines is a devastating disease that claims the lives of numerous young puppies every year. Unfortunately, parvo kills very quickly and for that reason it's very important to quickly recognize the symptoms of parvo, in order to give your puppy the best chance for survival possible. Unfortunately, even with top of the line medical care, it's still a fifty fifty chance of whether your puppy will survive or not. However without veterinary care it is believed that up to ninety percent of puppies infected with parvovirus will die, and so people whose dog is testing positive for the virus are urged to put their dog into full scale veterinary care as soon as possible.

Parvo is most prevalent in puppies under six months of age, especially puppies that have not yet completed their full set of puppy vaccines. The early symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea (which may contain blood and have a distinct metallic smell), and lack of appetite. It's extremely important to act quickly when symptoms of canine parvo are noticed, as this is a disease which can kill very quickly, oftentimes within twenty four hours.
